The Poverty Scam

Inspired by: The Gospel of Poverty

I see them counting paper in their ivory home
While the people down below can barely hold their own
Trading sacred truths for earthly wealth below
Building up their fortunes while faith starts to slow
They preach to stay in lack, against God’s own word
While they live in plenty, their teaching absurd
Something ain’t right with this picture here
Denying God’s abundance year after year

They’re wolves at the door
Wearing sheep clothes while they take some more
They’re wolves at the door
Stealing blessings while they stack their store

Look at how they smile when they pass the plate
Preaching scarcity while they celebrate
Got their fancy suits and their shiny rings
Hiding all the promise that God’s word brings
I watched them twist the scriptures day by day
Teaching lack while God shows another way
“Stay humble, stay poor” – that’s what they teach
While God’s true abundance stays out of reach

They’re wolves at the door
Wearing sheep clothes while they take some more
They’re wolves at the door
Stealing blessings while they stack their store

God promised abundance, this is true
But they keep His blessings far from you
When judgment comes they’ll have to face
How they kept God’s children from His grace
Your time is coming, can’t you see?
Truth and justice patiently

Every Sunday morning, same false show
Preaching poverty while their wealth does grow
Private jets and mansions, that’s their real creed
While denying what God’s children truly need
But truth is rising up, it’s got your name
Soon everyone will see through your game
The promise will shine and set them free
From all the lies of your false prophecy

They’re wolves at the door
Wearing sheep clothes while they take some more
They’re wolves at the door
Stealing blessings while they stack their store
